Six New Recall Petitions Approved Today

EDMONTON – Alberta’s Chief Electoral Officer, Gordon McClure, has received petition applications to recall the following six Members of the Legislative Assembly and determined all applications meet the requirements of section 3(1) of the Recall Act.
Electoral Division 11 – Calgary-Fish Creek, Myles McDougall,
Electoral Division 14 – Calgary-Hays, Ric McIver,
Electoral Division 19 – Calgary-North, Muhammad Yaseen,
Electoral Division 21 – Calgary-North West, Rajan Sawhney,
Electoral Division 65 – Highwood, RJ Sigurdson, and
Electoral Division 75 – Morinville-St. Albert, Dale Nally.
As required by s.3(3) of the Act, written notice of the approval was issued on November 14, 2025, to:
each of the recall petition applicants,
each of the individual members named in the applications,
the Honourable Danielle Smith, leader of the registered party to which the members named belong, and
the Honourable Ric McIver, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.
Total of Nine Recall Petitions
This brings the total number of approved Recall Petitions to nine, all affecting UCP MLAs, including the Speaker of the House Ric McIver.
The website Operation Total Recall says that initial paperwork for nine more UCP Mlas has been submitted.
Weekly Protest Attendance Exploded This Weekend
Protesters have been outside Cypress-Medicine Hat MLA Justin Wright’s office for months, the protest started outside Premier Smith’s Medicine Hat office. On Nov 15 there was 8 protesters, on Nov 22 there was over 65. (The first 2 photos are from Nov 15, the rest are from Nov 22.)
