Back in 2010, Tom had a scrappy idea and a vision: to create a platform that would cut through the noise and tell the real stories that matter to our community. It started as Community TV, but like any good idea, it evolved. Today, we’re proudly known as Medicine Hat Owl—a nod to the wisdom we’ve gained and the clever, scrappy energy we’ve never lost.

We lovingly call our followers “TrashPandas” and “Owls.” Some of you are scrappy scavengers, finding gems in the chaos, and others are old and wise, watching carefully from above. Together, we’re a powerful mix—scrappier, wiser, and more dangerous to corrupt rat politicians by the day.

Meet the Team

Tom, our fearless founder, still leads the charge, but he’s no longer alone in this mission.

  • Kelly joined three years ago and has been tearing it up covering municipal politics and social issues. If there’s a scandal or injustice, Kelly’s the one digging for the truth. She has receipts!

  • Alex, our newest addition, has been writing and snapping photos for the past year. His recent industry experience has brought sharp organization and a knack for unraveling the complexities of crime and politics to our newsroom.
