A fire at a rural sub-division south of the city broke out Friday morning but no injuries are being reported.

The home located near Rattlesnake Lake began around 10:30 am but has proven stubborn to tackle as below freezing temperatures and limited access to water have complicated Cypress County volunteers from dousing the blaze.

As of 1:30 pm Friday, a large column of smoke was still emanating from the home.

Volunteer departments from across the county from Suffield to the Murray Lake Colony were on scene assisting with the fire.
