Medicine Hat Man Faces Multiple Charges After Police Seize Guns, Cocaine, and Cash in Raid

A 50-year-old Medicine Hat man has been charged with extortion, firearms offenses, and drug trafficking after a police search of his southwest home uncovered rifles, cocaine, and a large sum of cash.
On Tuesday, June 10, the Medicine Hat Police Service executed a search warrant at a residence in the 400 block of Sierra Blvd SW as part of an ongoing investigation. Officers seized two rifles and ammunition, 1.8 kilograms of cocaine, $35,766 in Canadian currency, and multiple cartons of unstamped cigarettes.
Jason Carr, a local resident and owner of a roofing company, faces charges including extortion, unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts), possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized (two counts), possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of proceeds of crime, and possession of stolen property.
Following his arrest, Carr was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in Medicine Hat Provincial Court on June 12, 2025.
The MHPS confirmed that the investigation remains active, with no further details released at this time.
Notably, Carr was previously the victim of a separate crime when his vehicle and boat were stolen several years ago. A short video of that incident is included below.
