Here are some Truths For canadians

Fleury said “You guys raised $10 million within 2 weeks, how many political parties can do that?” (29:30 of the above video)

Truth - the convoy did raise that much.

Truth - Canadian political parties have fundraising restrictions. If the convoy had to abide by the same limitations that political parties do, there is no way they could have raised the amount of money that they did in two weeks.

Elections Canada Fundraising Limits
$1700 limit to each

  • Registered party

  • In total to all registered associations, nomination contestants and candidates of each registered party

  • In total to all leadership contestants in a particular contest

NO donations from businesses, individuals only.
NO Foreign Donations

Only Canadian citizens or permanent residents can make contributions.

NO anonymous or false name donations (several donations were made in the name of Justin Trudeau and his wife, another donation of over $15,000 was made in the name of a Canadian epidemiologist.)

Lich said the federal government was falsely accusing the convoy of accepting foreign monies and influence. (38:30 of video link)

Truth – Prime Minster Justin Trudeau and other members of the federal government were concerned about foreign monies (yes, the USA is a foreign country), and foreign influence.
Truth - The Convoy DID accept foreign monies, again the USA (not to mention 80 other countries) is a foreign country.

The dollar amount of the Canadian contributions to the GiveSendGo Freedom Convoy 2022 campaign only amounted to 47%, the other 53% came from foreign countries.

The number of donations from Canadians to the GiveSendGo Freedom Convoy 2022 campaign only amounted to 35%, the other 65% came from foreign countries.

They did have a certain amount of contact with Americans such as Jacob Wells (co-founder of GiveSendGo) and Laura Ingraham with FOX News ( I am not sure that amounts to influence) . The majority of the calls flooding the Ottawa 911 lines originated from the US, multiple prominent Americans including Donald Trump and Donald Trump Jr voiced their support for the convoy

Lich said Florida Governor Ron DeSantis threatened GFM with fraud, so GFM refunded ALL the money. (3242 of above video.)

Truth – GFM refunded all the money.
Truth - Ron DeSantis did threaten them with fraud

Truth – GFM did not cave to Ron Desantis, they had already announced the refund 7 hours before DeSantis’s tweet. See screenshots of twitter posts.

Truth - The original GFM campaign set up by the convoy organizers stated that the money would go to support the truckers and any leftover funds would be donated to a veterans organization. When the funds were not permitted to be released, GFM’s original plan was to refund all those who asked. The rest was to be donated to a charity that would be chosen by the donors.

Within 24 hours of announcing that, GFM’s employees received a large amount of threatening e-mails so GFM denied to refund ALL the money. This cost them $1 million dollars as they had already released that much. The convoy was only able to use $26,000 of that money, the rest went into escrow.

Adopt a Trucker was set up so truckers could have a place to sleep, a meal, a shower if they wanted. (Meanwhile the convoy organizers are sitting pretty in hotels paid for by Joseph Bourgault of Canadians for Truth (ARC Hotel, Swiss Hotel), Bourgault paid almost $100,000 for hotel and conference rooms.)

Lich said they've got about $5 million in escrow “of your donations that we are still fighting for” .

(Other convoy participants already tried to get access to the money for legal fees, the judge said no.)

Lich said “I don't know if we'll ever see that money. If we do that obviously that money was donated for a specific purpose and. We will make sure it gets to where it was supposed to go.”

Lich said she felt responsible because her name was on that fundraiser and people were trusting them with their money, people that couldn't afford to donate money.

Lich said “We did have a poll to ask people what they wanted”.

”Would you like us to use it to refund the truckers as originally intended and donate the rest to the veterans association (which is what we always wanted to do)?”

The choices were

  • use it for legal fees

  • reimburse the truckers, or

  • donate the rest of it

Lich said “It was overwhelmingly for the legal fees.”

(I’m very sure that many of the donors would have wanted the money to go to legal fees. I’m also sure that many others would want the money to go to what they donated it for especially the ones who “could not really afford to donate”. If the convoy was such a worthy cause then it should be no problem raising money for the legal fees. After all, Lich’s book is apparently already a “best seller”.)

Truth - It is on Amazon’s Most Sold List. It is currently #19 , down from #16 last week, 4 weeks on the list.

Truth - It is not on Amazon’s Most Read list at all.
