Veterans Lead Inaugural March Across Newly Painted Veterans Crosswalk

Medicine Hat — A new symbol of pride and remembrance has appeared in front of City Hall, thanks to the efforts of local resident Edward Devine and the City of Medicine Hat. The freshly painted crosswalk, located just before the Finlay Bridge Crossing, was officially unveiled today with a ceremonial march.

Dozens of veterans and supporters gathered for the inaugural crossing, accompanied by the stirring sound of the South Alberta Pipes and Drums. As the music echoed across the downtown core, veterans proudly marched over the brightly painted crosswalk — a vibrant new landmark that celebrates community spirit and honours those who served.

“I think this could boost tourism, and I think the people of Medicine Hat really like it,” said Devine, who helped bring the project to life.

Mayor Linnsie Clark shared her appreciation for the initiative, noting, “It’s incredibly gratifying… we must maintain the peace and freedom that our veterans fought so hard for.”

The event marked a touching tribute to local veterans and a colourful new addition to Medicine Hat’s civic landscape.
