Today APARC issued the following statement on social media. At time of publication, nothing was on their website; the City of Medicine Hat has yet to create a website. APARC will be closed this weekend. People who applied to adopt may have to reapply.

Friendly reminder that as we prepare to transition over to city services, we will be closed this weekend! Starting next week, all inquires including intakes and animal questions, should be directed to the Animal Pound Services - Medicine Hat (APS) page.

Please note with the switch over to a new system, some information may not carry over. If you have submitted an application for an animal, you may need to reapply on the APS page once it is live. More updates will be shared on the APS page soon.

Thank you for all of the support you’ve shown over the years. Medicine Hat has a deeply caring community, especially when it comes to animals, and we are proud to be apart of it. We hope you will continue to support the work that we do, with the same dedicated animal care staff, just under new leadership.

Finally, thank YOU to every single family, home, person who has given one of our animals a place. Whether through temporary foster or forever home, each and every one of you have made a real difference in the lives we are able to help.

We’d love to celebrate this community, please share pictures and updates of your APARC fosters or adoptees in the comments! Let’s fill this post with happy faces and good memories
