Man arrested with drugs, weapons no show at court

A city man facing drug and weapons charges failed to show at his first court appearance Thursday at Medicine Hat Court of Justice following his release earlier this month.

Jeremiah Amero, 34, was a subject of a traffic stop on the evening of July 7 near Fourth Avenue and 9th Street SE prompted by a constable’s recognition of a passenger in the vehicle.

Following the vehicle stop was, Amero was arrested, according to local police.

After his arrest, Amero was searched and then charged with drug and weapon possession allegations connected to the discovery of 20 grams of coke divided into five baggies, according to police.

Three knifes and $2,330 in case was also seized.

Police stated Amero was remanded into custody until a July 17 court appearance.

However, the court heard during the man’s July 17 court appearance that Amero had been released from custody.

An unendorsed warrant was issued for Amero from the bench.

Multiple arrests in SE Hill neighbourhood

For the third time in two weeks, city police have announced an arrest involving weapons offences in a several square block radius in the Southeast Hill neighbourhood surrounding Central Park.

The latest incident occurred Wednesday evening near Fourth Avenue and 12th Street SE after a physical dispute between neighbours resulted in an un-named 52-year-old receiving undisclosed firearm charges, according to police.

Police are not reporting the man’s name nor his custodial status but his next court appearance is stated to be held on Aug. 20.

That incident was preceded hours earlier during the early morning of July 16 with police reporting an armed robbery occurring at a home near Second Avenue and Eighth Street SE.

Police report suspects in the robbery were traced to a Division Avenue and 11th Street SE residence.

One of the suspects was reported to have been arrested.

That un-named 34-year-old is facing 16 offences involving robbery and firearms and has been remanded into custody.

The third incident involved 34-year-old Jeremiah Amero as previously mentioned.
