Bail denied for man facing drug, weapons allegations

A man facing gun, drug and extortion charges was denied bail Tuesday at Medicine Hat Court of Justice.

Jason Douglas Carr, 50, was charged on June 10 after city police seized nearly two kilograms of cocaine, more than $35,000 in cash, two rifles as well as contraband cigarettes, according to a media release at the time.

Details presented during Carr’s bail hearing regarding the extortion allegation can’t be disclosed due to a court-ordered publication ban.

The charges were laid following police executing a search warrant at a Sierra Blvd. home.
