A city man arrested over the weekend following a standoff with police in the South Flats has been denied bail.
A man and woman were being investigated by RCMP in connection with an Aug. 8 break in at a Cypress County rural property where firearms were stolen.
On Sunday Aug. 10, police arrested the woman while the man fled.
Police located the man at a South Flats home by the afternoon but refused to leave the residence, leading to a multi-hour standoff involving multiple officers, tactical team members, armoured vehicle and closing a good section of the neighbourhood down.
Brandon Aman, 31, was arrested at the scene and is now facing multiple firearms related charges following police recovering guns and ammunition from the residence.
Aman is facing at least nine firearms-related charges, possession of stolen property both over and under $5,000, assault with a weapon as well as several other allegations.
The 28-year-old woman with Aman is facing a possession of stolen property allegation but police have not released her name.
Aman’s next court appearance is set for Wednesday.
