Charges against a 76-year-old Hatter facing allegations related to child pornography and voyeurism have been abated due to the man being deceased.

City police initially announced charges against Roy Jebson on Aug. 1 following an investigation by its major crime unit.

That investigation was sparked by a complaint by a woman who suspected she was being filmed covertly by the accused.

Further investigation found evidence substantiating the claim as well as other offences including a total of three counts of voyeurism along with charges relating to the making, possessing and distributing child pornography.

A large police presence was seen outside the man’s Southwest Hill home near the hospital on Aug. 6.
