Trial Date Set for Man Accused of Four Counts of Attempted Murder
A city man involved in a gun battle with police in July 2024 will be heading to trial early next year on four counts of attempted murder.
Cole Anthony Scory, 31, was charged following the incident which it’s alleged he shot at police and gunfire was returned, according to a release at the time by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT).
The incident was sparked by a complaint of a gunshot at an apartment near the intersection of Second Avenue and Eighth Street in the Southwest Hill neighbourhood.
Police were standing at the front entrance of the building when it’s alleged they were shot at from a suite in the apartment complex with officers being injured.
Police returned fire with Scory eventually removed from the building suffering from gunshot injuries.
No other individuals were injured.
Scory was transported to hospital while police at the time of the incident indicated the officers injured were recovering.
Scory’s trial has been set for Feb. 5 and 6, 2025 at Medicine Hat Court of Justice.
He is also facing six other firearms-related charges.
