Happy Family Day - It’s a Great day to ride the bus!

Today for the first time in years, we have transit running on a holiday! You can now get up to the free events at the Big Marble Go Centre without a car.
A one way fare for all ages is $3.25, a day pass is $6.50. MH Transit has not used transfer slips since COVID.
They will be running Sunday hours, here is where to find all the info.
Kudos to the Public Services Department which decided that they had enough money to fund three holiday service days this year. The next one is Canada Day; the City is asking for input as to what day should be the 3rd -
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Sept. 30), or
Remembrance Day (Nov. 11), or
Boxing Day (Dec. 26).
One of the features I love is being able to see the location of my bus in real time. I also love not having to worry about finding a parking space or moving my car after 2 hours. It means real freedom. If I want to go down the stairs over Altawana Drive, I don’t have to worry about going back up; I can just keep going to the nearest bus stop. It’s also a great way to tour the city.
The transit drivers are second to none. While many drivers complain about “narrow” roads that force pickup drivers to climb the curb, these professional drivers navigate them with ease.

Waiting for the bus - the wind-chill was about -20C at 5:18pm, it had warmed up from -37C wind chill.
I asked the councillors at the last Public Services Committee if they would commit to riding the bus today; I was asked if I would be riding the bus.
I’m not a council member.
If council members are going to make decisions about transit, I believe they should ride it to experience the service for themselves.
I believe that council members should be willing to promote city services - that includes public transit.
I was without a vehicle for about a year so, yes, I have ridden the bus - a LOT.
Even so, I did say I would be riding the bus today. However my personal circumstances have changed, so no, I will not be riding the bus today. I have other obligations to fulfill.
