City council will be collecting condolences from Hatters to share with the members of Tumbler Ridge impacted by a mass shooting event last week that claimed nine lives.

Mayor Linnsie Clark told council Tuesday that a letter of condolence will be sent on behalf of the city and that residents can add their own letter or card as part of the effort to show support for those in the BC Peace Country community.

“We thought it would be more meaningful and a good opportunity for our community as well,” said Clark. “If they have any condolences they want to offer or messages they want to send to the community of Tumbler Ridge, please feel free to drop off letters, cards to the city clerk’s department.”

Those letters and cards will be collected up until the noon hour on Monday at the city clerk’s desk located on the third floor of City Hall.

Residents can also email notes of condolence to clerk@medicinehat.ca.
