Indigenous People's Month Local Activities

Friday June 21 2024 (Indigenous People’s Day) I took in the celebration at City Hall and the event at Kin Park.

On Saturday, I visited Tin Can Alley (Towne Square) for the Block party celebrating Indigeneity. Brenda Mercer showed us how to make a drum (no pics, I was too fascinated), Elder Charlie Fox and others participated in Ask an Elder; he also sang an honour song. Davie James led a drum circle.

The previous week I attended the Indigenous Graduation at Medicine Hat College to celebrate my youngest daughter.
