Friday’s Special Council Meeting Held In Camera

A special meeting of Medicine Hat city council called for Friday to discuss a “personnel matter” resulted in an hour and fifteen-minute closed session.

The meeting was called in the wake of Monday’s council meeting which featured release of a 207-page inspector’s report into the municipal governance.

Friday’s special meeting was initially scheduled to take place at city hall at noon with the single topic on the agenda.

The meeting was then changed to a virtual one which featured the full city council appearing via Microsoft Teams.

Council voted to go into a closed session immediately, the “personnel matter” was discussed in camera and officials emerged with no further vote or business being discussed.

The next regular council meeting is scheduled for Aug. 18.
