Kelly’s travels - BC Public Art #1

Kelly’s Travels

I took a trip out to BC recently to visit with my elderly parents (Dad is 91 and lives on the Sunshine Coast; Mom is 90 and lives on Vancouver Island.)

One thing that I enjoy seeing whenever I go out to BC is the amount of First Nations artwork that seems to be everywhere. They do a beautiful job of adding art to functionality.

The following were taken at the Tsain-Ko shopping centre in Sechelt next to the hospital. They even incorporate the art in some of the centre’s crosswalks.

I completely missed getting pics of the totem poles gracing the entrance and the owl; I was getting stuff for Dad.
Photo credit for the totem poles and the owl pics go to the
Tsain - Ko shopping centre.

“These spiritual animal legends are told from many tribal perspectives across many nations, each as equally significant as the next. Please respect and honour them all.”
