Mayoral candidate Drew Barnes is no stranger to politics, running and winning in three straight provincial elections in the Cypress-Medicine Hat riding. Now he wants to take that experience to the municipal level.

Mayor Linnsie Clark rode a wave of discontented Hatters into office four years ago with a promise of changing how business would be done at city hall. But those turbulent waters which swept her into office also resulted in a city hall swamped with dissatisfaction and dysfunction.

Medicine Hat City Hall needs to get its act together, work collaboratively and serve Hatters, says Alan Rose who’s running to become the municipality’s next mayor.

Andy McGrogan says he began serving the community as a 19-year-old cop and wants to continue to do so as the city’s next mayor.

Former Medicine Hat mayor and city councillor Ted Clugston isn’t mincing his words when it comes to the current state of affairs at the municipality.

“There’s a dumpster fire burning here next door, it’s called City Hall,” said Clugston during an interview with the Medicine Hat Owl by the courthouse. “We need to call 911 and put it out immediately. The first hundred days as far as I’m concerned.”
