A significant portion of the training focused on how to effectively de-escalate situations by understanding the mental state of the person in crisis. "It's Not About You": People are often in crisis when they come to ask for help. In this state, they may not be as polite or respectful as someone who is not in crisis.
Public Members Named To Task Force
The Resilient and Inclusive Community Task Force was created about a year ago. One of their goals was to find a location for a 24/7 Emergency Shelter. Two of the public members have since been elected to Council (Chris Hellman and Stuart Young) which left two vacancies for public members on the Task Force.
